Blank Memory
If you find yourself lost in Brazil and you don’t speak the language, be prepared to walk around or get yourself a decent map because asking Brazilians for direction is like asking monkeys for directions. Some people are actually trying to help you but sometimes at the back of your head you might be thinking, is he/she trying to tell me to go to the opposite site just to make me walk and pull a joke on me, or is he/she really telling me the truth. However sometimes good Samaritans also make mistakes, they might be really trying to help you but since Brazil is a huge country, and Sao Paulo a huge city, wandering around this city can be quite frustrating and challenging, so be prepared to enjoy the ups and downs of Sao Paulo’s streets, don’t expect people to speak English or Spanish, and something very important, bring with you a nice pair of walking shoes. I have been enjoying my detours and shortcuts and whatnots, as wells as getting annoyed at my aging memory for not remembering where I have been waling for the past few days, yes sometimes I walk around the same place, and yet I get lost going to the same place again and again. The funny thing is, I am starting to recognize some of the streets and my legs are getting thinner and stronger.
